Michael W. Crozier, KC

Mike joined Bryan & Company as a student in 1973, and has practiced continually with the firm, as student, associate, partner, and now as counsel since that time. With over 50 years of experience in the practice of law, he has gained experience in a wide range of corporate matters, family business matters, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate and property law, and has taken pride in becoming a “facilitator, advisor, and problem solver” for small businesses, large businesses, and individuals. His objective is to provide to all clients, the benefit of his experience, and provide clear, concise, and cost-effective services and solutions.

Mike’s extensive experience in corporate and commercial strategic planning extends to the organization of ventures, including unlimited liability companies, joint ventures, partnerships, limited partnerships, proprietorships, and franchises, as well as the negotiation of transactions involving the acquisition and divestiture of business enterprises within Canada and internationally. He is a trusted advisor to his clients and assists them with business succession planning, including dispute resolution of inter-party organizational and operational conflicts. Mike has also been involved in negotiating and executing loan arrangements with chartered banks and other financial institutions.

For over 50 years, Mike has acted for individuals, small corporations and businesses, and large corporations and businesses. He was legal counsel to Edmonton Investors Group, who purchased the Edmonton Oilers in 1998, to prevent them from leaving Edmonton, was for many years counsel for The Brick Warehouse Corporation and has acted in numerous successful transactions. Mike has been designated a leading lawyer by Lexpert and is listed by The Best Lawyers in Canada^TM in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions Law.

Mike has been an instructor and evaluator for the Law Society of Alberta Bar Admission Course, in addition to speaking at CLE seminars for the legal community. He regularly gives seminars to clients and other interested groups on a wide range of subjects including operation of business enterprises. He has served on the boards of various private corporations, charitable and non-profit community, and sport organizations, including as a board member, chairman of the Finance Committee and vice-chairman for the Glenrose Provincial General Hospital.

During the 50+ years that Mike has been a member of Bryan & Company, he served as a member of the Management Committee for more than 25 years, was head of the Business Development Committee and the Corporate Commercial Department. He served on the board of many community organizations, including the Glenrose Provincial General Hospital, served as President of Snow Valley Ski Club, and Chairman of Snow Valley Ski Racing, served as a director of the Alberta Alpine Ski Association, and has served on the Board of Directors of numerous clients. With four children, and eleven grandchildren in the Edmonton community, he continues to be involved in community and sporting activities in the Edmonton area.
